Vic public viewing Friday nights

The relatively large range of telescopes outside and inside of the new observatory operated by enthusiastic members may be of interest to many of us on IIS. See general-public info below, for Vic.

Fri 6th Jan was attended by 140 from the public, some brought their new telescopes to get help with setting up. Quite a few DIYers, astrophotographers and seasoned observers were helping and one member demonstrated spectroscopy. A great intro to this vibrant group, plus the year’s schedule, is in the newsletter for Jan-Feb 2017, through the website’s menu or https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Byv...BxUDJWQ00/view

Planets, stars, telescopes
Hear a talk, see telescopes, and, weather permitting, view stars, planets, clusters, galaxies. Mornington Peninsula Astronomical Society. Next to the Outdoor Ed Camp at the Briars, Mt Martha. 8 pm Fridays Jan 6, 13, 20 of 2017 and every 1st Friday of each month. Group bookings also available on- or off-site. Watching CFN and the BoM, the skies may clear this evening (Fri 13 Jan 2017)...?

Those wishing to visit for the first time may find tonight a great chance to (find the way,) inspect equipment and have discussions -thin crowd and full moon!

(Any from VASTROC 2017 please make yourselves known -there might just be some assistance. Science needs collaboration.)

Details in the the first post.
