The Day We Lost Gene Wilder

A sad, but inevitable day.

I think my favourite movie would be Young Frankenstein. Such a well-timed film noir-esque suspense/thriller/comedy. Only he and Mel Brooks could have pulled that off so well.

His version of Willy Wonka was definitive, but his portrayal of The Waco Kid in Blazing Saddles along-side Cleavon Little (the Sheriff) is my fondest memory of him. I always wanted his quick hands.

Rest in Peace, sir.

Yes, I heard about it today, it is sad news, I did like his acting skills, and my favourite movie, which I nearly wore out was The Silver Streak, loved it.

Rest In Peace,

Leon

His version of Charley and the Chocolate Factory was one of my favourite as a child, basically wore the VHS tape out.

I realised that I still have an unopened, still wrapped in plastic, VHS copy of The Producers.

Since we "haven't got a video" (thank you Vyvyan), I guess I'll have to hunt down a copy online.

I haven't seen Silver Streak. I'll check Netflix to see if it lives there.

Tis a sad day indeed.
Having a bit of a marathon, starting with Willy Wonka followed by Blazing Saddles, Stir Crazy and Young Frankenstein.

One of the skills of Gene Wilder as an actor was his marvellous
ability to portray what was going through his character's head
whilst barely uttering a word.

In "Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex*
(*But Were Afraid to Ask)", Dr Doug Ross faces an awkward moment with
a new patient -

Trivia -
George Clooney's character, in the television series ER, was also named
"Dr. Doug Ross".
