Rogue Cloud

Last night I was imaging and the forecast was for it to be clear, the sky was crystal no clouds at all. It was humming away and all was good.

I went to bed and about an hour later I wake up and its raining outside.
At first I thought it must have been wind but I go outside and check.

A mad dash to the observatory and close the roof and there was only a small amount of water on the scope and bits.

By the time I left it the sky was crystal again and I could see the very large rogue cloud that has just dropped a shower.

That was pretty rare but weather does whatever it does and assumptions can cause trouble.

Greg.

The weather can certainly be fickle, recently I went outside to check on my imaging run at 1-00am and the sky had fogged over.
When I closed up the Obs and switched everything off the fog miraculously cleared.

Cheers

That's no miracle. That's plain vindictiveness.

Been caught out both ways with that.

Often its what I call a sucker hole in the cloud. Its when cloud appears to clear and you have clear skies all over. You setup and by the time you are ready to click start you wonder why the focus downloads are suddenly not showing anything, you look up and its solid cloud!

A common experience. I now wait for the sucker hole to prove itself!
