Mars Melbourne 30th May

Good seeing tonight in Melbourne enabled me to crank up the magnification on the 8 inch newt to over 300X. The temp was probably easily in single figures at 8.30pm and it just kept getting colder. When I packed up at about 10.00 pm I reckon I could have put the counter weights into an esky and chilled the beer.

Great detail! I flew in to Melb late last night and the sky looked crystal clear but I was too tired to get set up!
It certainly was fresh outside!

Cheers to you Mick, armchair astronomy doesn't produce any pics as such, so good on you for getting out there. Transparency must have been quite good to get this detail, the 8 is performing well. I like the cloud detail, Mars is proving to be a popular target at this time. Might get out Thursday, blue skies ahead...
