CSIRO engineers building 19-beam receiver for 500m FAST radiotelescope China
In an article in today's Sydney Morning Herald, Marcus Strom writes that
CSIRO engineers at Marsfield in Sydney are designing and building a
19-beam receiver that will be at the heart of the Five-hundred
metre Aperture Spherical Telescope, or FAST, in China.
FAST will be the world's largest single dish radiotelescope and is due to
be commissioned this year.
CSIRO advancing Chinese science. Meanwhile Parkes and many other Australian research facilities are facing closure for lack of funding --- not to mention the severe cutbacks to staff and the resulting massive brain drain in recent years.
