Success with Light Pollution

Some time ago I worked with my local electric cooperative, which provides my power, to get my neighbor's unshielded light replaced with a more efficient fixture, and to eliminate the light trespass that it was causing on my property. I wrote an article about this for my web site some time ago, and it is here:

As a result of this interaction, recently the coop asked to write an article about good lighting for their monthly newsletter. I finished it up last week, and you can view the pdf version here:

As I understand it, the coop is now only installing shielded LED fixtures in place of the old mercury and high-pressure sodium vapor fixtures that it used to do for dusk-to-dawn lights.

This is a big deal, and could really help reduce light pollution over coming years as the old fixtures are replaced.
