Gearing up for WA astrophotography trip

Hi all,

It's that time of the year again, and the chaotic cloudy conditions here at home simply 'force' me *cough* to plan another trip down under.

Having been to Coona several times before, this time I want to try my luck in Western Australia. Been there in 2013 for the long drive up to Newman for the annular eclipse, and experienced a night trip along the way.. simply stunning view!

This time, me and a friend, is kinda planning for a week long "photon-collecting-exercise", the 1st week of November.

Will be flying from Kuala Lumpur directly to Perth.

Our target is not too far off from Perth, perhaps 2 hour drive max? Still scouting around for good site. Any recommendations?

Will caravan be a better choice? Our previous trips are all hotels and farms. Can we stopped by at night like the Pinnacles area for imaging sessions? Will it be safe?

I'll be bringing along my CCD camera, thus a powered site is a must. Otherwise I need to go for DSLR trip only.

any advice.suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
