Getting FLI and Maxim DL 5.6 to see each other

Hi, I have just spent a couple of fruitless hours trying to connect the FLI microline 8300 to maxim. I tried following the instructions on FLI then tried various ways, seems I can't get maxim to see the plug in for the camera. Each time I try and unzip it to the maxim folder I get permission issues, which is strange as I opened as administrator and changed security settings twice. The driver works as the cooler started humming when USB was connected. Can someone please talk me through it ?
Just in case it's any easier I have applied for an upgrade for maxim version 6 but that hasn't come yet. Camera works fine in TSx.
Thanks
Graham

Odd. FLI integrated flawlessly with my MaxIM, CCDOps etc. Not a single issue.

The MaxIM 6 upgrade won't fix it - I tried MaxIM 6, and decided not worth the upgrade as it didn't offer anything of any real benefit (there is a 2 star guiding algorithm for PHD now too, so that negates the 2 star guiding advantage or MaxIM).

Sorry, its been a LONG whilesince I first connected my ML8300 to MaxIM, so I can't recall anything specific. I do ALWAYS change program attributes to run as administrator permanently, so that MAY have done it. You might want to maybe even try running it in XP service pack 2 compatibility and check - not sure, as I have Win 7 and it went in just fine.

Send me the camera - I'll return it ONE day. You can use my SBIG ST-8300C in the mean time

You should have seen the nightmares I had with QHY and Atik...

maxim and FLI

I have a feeling it is permissions related- the download zip file cannot be dragged into the folder containing Maxim Dl without a box saying this is not allowed.
It says to place folder in Maxim Dl/CCD folder but there isn't a specific one I can find just a list of other dll. folders. When I try and open it directly using MAxim add ons it says it is the wrong type of file?
help!!can some one please write down the actions they would take to do this so I can follow it and see if it is operator error?
I have windows 7.

I had some issues early on getting FLI gear to work. This is when they were sorting their install software.

I would delete all FLI software and drivers and start a fresh install.

Also best to post on the FLI Yahoo Group as there is lots of support there.

Greg.

Its a two step process.
First install the FLI software install kit that can be downloaded here - http://www.flicamera.com/software/index.html
To run the install, right mouse click the install file and select 'run as administrator' first.

Then do the tweak in MaximDL to install the plug-in so you can get the RBI and speed changes.

If you're not interested in the RBI and speed change stuff, from memory you just need to do the first step. i.e. there is no dependency.

Maxim +FLI

thanks guys
Jase when you say do the tweak, that's the bit I have the issue with I think as the drivers are clearly there on the directory and when I plugged the camera in it started to hum.
What do you mean by the tweak?
the instructions say download the maxim plug in (which I did) and unzip it to the MAximDL/CCD folder -which I either am looking in the wrong place for C/program files/86 etc Maxim, or when I try and unzip it into the directory containing the MAximDl folder it wont let me.....

Unzip the files onto your desktop first. Then copy them from the desktop to c:\program files\diffraction limited\maxim dl v5
All the plugins exist in this directory. There used to be a specific plug-in folder in previous versions. Restart MaximDL.

Under the camera control window, set up tab, click on Setup Camera under Camera 1. Select the camera from the list.
