Meade 14 INCH LX200 ACF

EPRESSIONS OF INTEREST OR OFFERS

Meade 14 INCH LX200 ACF
MEADE 14 INCH LX200 ACF
Recently my circumstances have changed and I will be moving house in the near future. To facilitate the move I reluctantly put this scope up for sale. If there is no interest I will pack it away until such time I am ready to set up a permanent observatory.

This scope was purchased new from Bintel in June 2010 and has had little use mainly due to the poor weather over the last few
years and my circumstances which has limited my free time.
It is in excellent like new condition and is a great opportunity to save a few thousand dollars if you are looking to buy one of these monsters.
Ihave all the boxes and paperworkand I have added the usual necessary accessories you need to buy when you get one of these scopes. In case you didn’t realise it, you need to buy a lot of extras to make one of these scopes useable.
Thousands of dollars worth of extras. For instance as soon as you add a dew shield the weight it so great it takes a 5.5kg weight placed at the visual back to balance it. Then you need a sliding weight system under the tube to balance whatever accessories you add or use, for example heavy eyepieces, cameras, eyepiece turret etc. All this needs to be balanced so you don’t stress the motors.

I had the following accessories fitted by Bintel before delivery-
Zero Image Shift Focuser, Peterson Engineering EZI Clutch, Peterson Engineering Get a Grip Ergonomic Handles, Peterson Engineering Eye Opener.
Then I added more necessary accessories the first being a weight system which consists of a Farpoint Dovetail Plate and a set of Meade weights with 1 extra weight (3 weights total) plus a 5.5kg weight at the visual back.
Another Farpoint Dovetail Plate was added to the top of the tube to mount an 80mm Guide Scope (80mm Guide Scope not included) . Then two Astrozap Dew heaters were added, one to the main tube and the other to the finder scope. Then an Azstrozap dew shield with heater was added then an Astrozap Eyepiece Tray and a HitecAstro Mount Hub Pro to control the dew heaters and cameras using one USB connection. To power it all a 7 amp Regulated Power Supply was added.
There are two hand controllers, one the standard plug in hand controller and the second is a Meade Wireless hand controller.
I have set this telescope up mainly for visual and Video astronomy, it’s all mounted on a custom made buggy with a colour TV monitor mounted at the rear that doubles as a table to place your laptop.
(This can easily be removed) It’s all easy to move and set up quickly. The buggy has levelling screws that make it easy to level.
To protect your investment you need spare parts, there is nothing like having spares on hand if anything should go wrong.
I have a COMPLETE set of spares worth over $1000 that you will find very hard to get if anything does goes wrong. I have every electronic circuit board as a spare part plus both motor assemblies.
SPARE PARTS:
· R.A Motor Assembly complete with gears and worm. (Base)
· Declination Motor Assembly complete with gears and worm. (Fork Arm)
· Main Computer Board
· R.A Motor Controller board
· Declination Motor Controller board
· GPS Unit and Temperature Sensor Boards

There is well over $4500 worth of accessories and spare parts.
ACCESSORIES:
· Meade Counterweight System with extra weight (3 weights)
· 5.5 kg Visual Back Weight
· Dovetail Plate (bottom)
· Dovetail Plate (top)
· Astrozap Dew Shield with built in heater
· 2nd Dew heater for main tube
· Meade Diagonal
· Peterson Eye Opener
· Peterson Cultch
· Peterson Engineering Get a Grip Ergonomic Handles
· Astrozap Eyepiece Tray
· Wireless hand controller
· HitecAstro Mount Hub Pro
· Zero Image shift focuser
· Dew heater for the finder Scope
· Scope trolley
· 7 amp Regulated Power Supply
· Meade 8 x 50 Finder Scope
T.V. Monitor

PLEASE NOTE: cameras, eyepieces, eyepiece turret, Vixen guide scope and 90 degree finder scope seen in the photos are not included.
Replacement cost of this setup is almost $15,000 what offers.
PM me if you are interested.

bit of topic but some info please.

Can I ask about the device on the guidescope - an xy stage - it looks like an ONAG - what brand, name and supplier?

Re Sirius; have you viewed the pup with the scope?

Info

Hi Glen its an Orion XY giuder, as for observing Sirius's pup I am not into splitting doubles and rarely look at stars through this scope, The night I took the diffraction photos I was looking through the viewfinder of a camera and didnt pay any attention to the pup. Next time I take it out I will make a point of looking for it.
Regards,
Hugh
