The joy of love Q2 12/19

Great little comet Lovejoy is. I was able to acquire 30 x 180s on the night of 12/19 - 12/20 remotely at Coonabarabran.

FSQ, Proline 16803, Luminance filter. The tail is easily 3-degrees in length, and faint. I had to do a non-linear stretch quite a bit here. There is actually quite a bit of background nebula in this area as seen in the negative reproduction.

Tonight I looked again, but the ion tail was very short and narrow compared to the previous 24 hours. Worth keeping an eye on for outbursts. Well positioned for southern observers.

Anyway, had fun looking at this remotely from California.

Nice ones John. Yes the tail is faint, but detailed.
