G'day everyone, this is my latest image. Captured this on Friday night, seeing wasn't great but hey I'll take what I can get these days. I really struggled with the processing of this one, sooooo many stars that they were really hard to keep contained, (not sure I contained them enough). Anyway This is the Tarantula Nebula Area.

14 x 300sec @ ISO1600 with the gear in my signature.
Nice image Rex. Processing seems ok, framing is excellent but the core is a bit blown. i have seen this with a knot in the centre, you will know it when you see it.

Thanks David, I see what you mean about the core mate, thanks for the feedback. I really struggled with the processing of this one, and I had been staring at it for so long I must have missed it. I will revisit the processing and have another go. Thanks again.

Thanks Jo, your right it is different. I wasn't too sure about the colours that came out to be honest, but there are quite a few pictures around with similar colours so I felt a bit better about them.
Nice work. I agree that it would be possible and informative to ease back on the core a little, but I rather like it as it is. Gives a good feeling for the complexity of the area, and what's there a bit further away from the Tarantula itself. With high dynamic range regions, it's mathematically impossible to show the faint stuff, show the core, and also faithfully show the relationship between the two. I think you've got a very nice compromise.

Nicely done Rex, I tried this one the other week with my unmodded 1100, your modded camera shows the structure far better with the extra colour. Well done.

Thanks Kevin, I am very happy with how my gear is performing. I didn't think I would be able to get the results that I have on occasion with this gear.

Thanks Mike. Like I said I really struggled with this one and by the end of it all I wasn't really sure if I had done an ok job or not, so thanks for the encouragement.

Thanks Sol. Dong the astro mod on my camera was one of the best things I could have done in my opinion. Just allows me to image the structures with far less integration time, and being time poor every bit helps.

For 5 minute subs ( I am assuming unguided???) and a stock 1100, that's a pretty special result.
Similar gear to mine, although you have a Cf faster newt and I suspect you have to fight against some Townsville Light pollution, so all in all, an impressive pic.

Thanks Chris. Um no mate my image is guided and my 1100D is modded but not cooled. I actually live to the north of Townsville itself but I do have a light pollution dome to my SE. My skys aren't really dark but you can see M31 naked eye and I can see all 4 of the octans through my polar scope so they're not too bad. I also use a CLS CCD clip filter which helps.
The Tarantula and surrounds are a pain in the --- to process.
So much going on, crowded with stars, the nebulosity is quite different colour wise compared to our galactic nebula.

Thanks Justin, yours is quite good, the red makes the whole area look very different, nice going. And your right it was hours and hours and hours of the three f's........ no not those f's, (although there was a couple of them lol), fun, frustration and finally fulfillment.
Sorry Rex, I thought I had already commented on this (I look at sooo many images on forums, my comment memory is shot )...anyway it looks pretty good to me and the colour works too, great job on a very photogenic area of our southern skies

Thanks Mike, no need to apologize at all mate, I know what it is like. Unfortunatley in the current world time is very short and we all just carry on and do what we can in the time available. I appreciate the time everyone gives to making comments and helping others on this forum. That's why I post here.
