Raining when on the couch
Got it all sorted, finally a clear night, scope set up (got my SharpSky running!) all cables connected and systems are all go (having a portable set up). Sitting on the couch directing my imaging, all is well. Been cold here in Canberra.
Got 10 shots of M20 and was waiting for the meridian flip to try to take M16. After the flip, trying to frame M16 using Astrotortilla, and had difficulty getting a good shot of the heavens to see what we were looking at. I was doing some work at the same time, so it took me about an hour to get it 'framed'. Then a black frame, and another one, then a white one?
It was getting late and time for bed. When I got outside it was completely clouded and started to rain!! What to do first ... sorting out the mains power or covering my scope ... I sort of did both at the same time. It was a mad house, running back and forth to get things into the house. My scope got rained on, as it turns out I sorted out the mains power first. The barrel of the scope is fine, just the corrector plate had some nice big splatters. I tried to suck the drips using a tissue paper and left the cover off.
Moral of the story, sitting on the couch 'imaging' is great but you will need to keep an eye out for the rains...
cheers,
Bram
