Eta Carinae

Finally a clear night, well at least for a few hours. Stack of 12 subs, mainly 180 secs @ 1600 with CDS-600D. Total time 29 minutes. Appreciate and post processing tips. No darks or flats, but any advice regarding these would be good.

Perhaps a bit green around the gills, otherwise a nice amount of detail there Paul.

There is no green is space - pretty though.
There's a download you can get for Photoshop - called HLVG - free.
it translates as Hasta La Vista Green

Interesingly I changed my monitor to Adobe RBG colour space and the green is not has obvious as the previous calibration. I don't use PS, but I altered the tint away from the green a bit in Lightroom. Does this look better?

I's a little better but the tint has changed too. HLVG is so easy to use, it's just a click. This is with HLVG set to strong.

That does look better. I assume HLVG is a Photoshop plug in? If so I can't use it since I don't have photoshop. I've been playing with the original all day and can't get it looking better with Startools, I'll have to RTM a bit I think. Still learning processing.

Yeah looks like it's only a photoshop plugin unfortunately.

Hi Paul,

Very, very nice Eta Complex!
Best is to figure out where the green is coming from in the first place, but if you find it's something that went wrong during acquisition and it is unrecoverable, then StarTools has a HLVG equivalent you can apply in the Color module called ('Cap Green').

Thanks. I did find cap green and that helped. I think the green is from light pollution as Eta Car was lowish and in the light dome of Brisbane at the time. I had another go last night when it was much higher and I think the green had gone. Still working on it though.
