Post attachments not downloading

Evening all,
Anyone else having trouble viewing attached images with IE10? I click on them, whirly thing on the new tab whirls away then gives me a page saying

This page can't be displayed
  • Make sure the web address http://www.iceinspace.com.au is correct.
  • Look for the page with your search engine.
  • Refresh the page in a few minutes.
It's only started recently. Any thoughts?

I use IE8 and it also does not respond to links (attachments). This was not always the case and i think it happened after an update.

I use Firefox for download links

Do any of the suggestions in this thread help?
http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/s...d.php?t=106194

Does it work in other browsers? Is it just an issue using IE10?

Hi Mike,
That link doesn't work in IE10 either! Come to think of it that has also started happening recently.
Neither problem occurs using Chrome so I'll work my way through the suggestions. I prefer to use a different browser to my meddling sons!
I'll keep you posted.
Thanks

Hi Terry.
I deleted my browsing history etc before reading your post. The two most recent posts that were causing problems are now ok, although they redirect surprisingly slowly. If the problem reoccurs I'll post a link.

I did notice that IE10 has two tickboxes for deleting cookies. One if checked deletes, the other preserves. By default the process preserves cookies related to websites in your favourites. Assuming IIS is in your favourites (and why wouldn'nt it!) it seems to me that this preserve option should be unchecked in order to clear them. That's what I did.
A bit of a trash everthing approach but the odd spring clean is probably a good thing.

All good fun eh.

Terry, it worked the second time but it did take quite a while to load. If it's any help, Chrome is loading images not viewed before at a speed that I would expect. Looks like I'll be switching to Chrome!

Cheers

IE10 has issues with style sheets and most javascript code. Run it in compatibility mode and everything will start working again.

I don't think you'll bother with IE after trying Chrome, Chris..

Sorry Chris, I'd fix something if there was something to fix but IE10 is broken. IE is almost always the browser that web pages need to have some sort of work-around to make them display properly. Prior to IE6, it was a nightmare to work with.

I know this is getting into the realms of vaudeville with "Doctor, Doctor it hurts when I do this. Well don't do that." ...But. I promise that your internet browsing life will be much happier if you never used IE. It's not a Microsoft bashing thing - it's just that IE is, was (and if history is anything to go by) will always be NQR.

Honestly, there are better tools for the job; Chrome or Firefox. Forgo the cosy familiarity and try something new

Thanks Terry, I've already abandoned it in favour of Chrome. I was only persevering with IE because my wife and kids use Chrome and are forever adding & changing things and leaving it logged into this and that. I will try firefox sometime. That would allow me to have my own browser setup too. I've never found fast switching user logins to be trouble free.

Yes that was me having the problem & it still exists using my IE10
which is my only browser.
It's intermittent so I haven't loaded another browser yet.
I was hoping that windows updates would fix it but it hasn't.

But the fact is that it's something to do with the software on the Ice in Space site
as I'm not seeing it any one of 100s of other sites.
I don't want to load a new browser just for one website.

I have had this problem for a long time.
I just downloaded Firefox & it's solved.
All the attachments load immediately.

I was using IE10 & when it upgraded to IE11 it got worse.
