I've been drooling over the timelapses here for ages and decided to try out the video coursing feature of my mount. Good fun, I got the colour settings wrong, but have a look at what I caught on film tonight

The Satellite went over the horizon at 9:04. CalSky didn't show up anything obvious travelling in that direction which leads me to speculate that it may have been the final positioning of the US Spy satellite launched the day before. Just waiting for the NSA to come knocking...

I saw that in the sky last night plus it showed up in a panorama I was imaging. It formed a plume that went across almost the whole sky.I assumed it was a jet but the plume was quite thick for a jet.

I caught it on camera. I initially though an illuminated high altitude contrail, but there was no moon etc.

I saw it overhead, then to the south. I missed capturing overhead, as I was setting up the scope, but when it lingered - and SO brightly, I grabbed the camera. You can see it clearly even amongst the sodium vapor lamps.

OK, here are my captures. All hand-held Canon 5D MkII with a 50mm f/1.4 lens.

It was BRIGHT! Shame I missed capturing it overhead.

Last 2 are when it was starting to spread. Sorry about quality.

Great photos - I wish I had seen it in the flesh - I remember the 'what the' moment the first time I spotted one in the night sky!
