Following the optical image posted last week of SN185, for fun I tried to add some IR light collected by Spitzer and WISE space telescopes to see what was the IR contribution on the area. It was nice to discover that the bright IR emission recorded by the orbital telescopes matches almost perfectly the dark areas on my image, clear sign that these darker spots are due to dust that results opaque to visible light but bright in IR. I have created a mouse over animation that to me is quite interesting:
IR light in this case is mapped as white. Interesting to notice how some stars very dim in visible light become extremely bright in IR and vice versa..
Brilliant Marco, as Mike also noted,The first thing that struck me was that some stars that where almost invisible shone so bright in IR.
