North west nightscapes

Hi everyone

Here's two more shots from my trip up to Gunnedah last month.

The first image was taken just north of town on the 23/8 about 15 minutes before Moon rise. The bright orange light is a rail coal loading site which I tried to use to light up the trees and silhouette the tank stand . The second image was taken along a walking track on Gunnedah's porcupine lookout about 45 minutes later with the Moon lighting up the foreground.

Canon 6D with Samyang 14mm F2.8 Lens

Image one : ISO 6400 25 sec exposure
Image two : ISO 1600 20 sec exposure

Processed in Lightroom 5 and Photoshop.

Tank trees Large

South Track Large

Thanks for looking

Cheers Mike, I'm starting to get the hang of the processing, particularly in PS.

awesome Rod. Good to see you got to get the 14mm on the 6D
With images like that i bet you can't wait to get out again.
Such a fine combo.
Was good to view the comparisons side by side with the ISO.

Yes, the first one is quite special. Love the way the light comes out in rays from the source across the ground too

Thanks Roger and Rob

It was a very seldom time when I didn't mind a bit of light pollution. Definitely not a spot for the scope

Cheers

Thanks Norm

Go for it mate its heaps of fun. The only negative with these nightscape shenanigans is it cuts into the deep sky budget
