Hi All,
I'm home, at last.
Had a wonderful trip to the US but it ended with a little inconvenience and added an extra day.
Boarded the plane on time at LAX and was it delayed for a few hours due to a fuel leak in an engine. That fixed we were finally pushed back and began to taxi. We were about to take off when the flight was grounded, due to a continuing problem with that same engine, apparently?

Four hours on the plane and all we did was a taxi circuit!
Qantas then disembarked passengers and organised hotels for the night. We left 24 hours later, after the engine was fixed.
Some people complained about the way Qantas handled it all, but I thought they handled it all rather well and quite professionally. They kept us well informed about the delay and what would happen next. It must have been a logistics nightmare to find rooms for nearly 500 passengers. And, they organised all the transport to and from these hotels too.
It was interesting to see who complained though; it certainly wasn't other Aussies on the flight. I asked one guy who was complaining why he flew Qantas? His answer, because they are safe! Well why complain then when they put safety first!
Another thing, if it had been a budget airline, would they have put their passengers up in a hotel, with all meals included? I doubt it!
Me, I just think it is all part of the adventure of travel and I, for one, am certainly happy that safety is their top priority.
I think Qantas are great!
Now, it is back to the grindstone.......to save for my next trip to the states.
Cheers Peter
