SynScan Handset ..Question

I have an NEQ6 pro
every time I start up the scope and go to "set up" all of the information I input the night before or minutes is correct ie: location etc ...but I have to keep resetting it to the correct time every time I start up. been bugging me for years

question: is this the norm with a synscan hand set ?
many thanks
rob

Unless you keep it plugged into power, it cannot keep time, so, yes, it is normal. All the same. It just puts the last time, date, location into it's memory.

I would definitely prefer to always have to enter the time as well anyway.

No different to the nexstar on the celestron, you have to input date and time.

You can buy a GPS extension kit that can find and enter these items when you re-start after a close down. Bintel have them. I got one some time ago. They work great.

I'm with Barry - I sourced a GPS unit for NEQ6 from Andrews for c.$200.

Worth every cent - no more entering wrong date format, time, location (particularly if you visit multiple sites).

Takes around 1 minute to triangulate on first set up & 10 seconds thereafter.

Highly recommended.

With the GPS unit all you need to remember (twice a year) is whether it's daylight savings time or not. Everything else you can just hit enter to. Once initialized you can unplug it. I find it to be a royal pain in the rear to be without the GPS unit.
