Back into it with EQMOD

Hi all,

After a short period without a mount etc.. I have finally got another one, a HEQ5Pro, which I will be using an 80mm F450mm Telescope along with a modified Finderscope for a guider... I have just got myself another EQDIR cable and am setting everything up again.

I remember way back when I had the EQ6 and running EQMOD I used to guide with PHD with pulseguiding. Unfortunately I am having issues trying to get PHD and EQMOD and my Planetarium program all talking to one another nicely. I keep getting a Connect Error message pop up and everything stops. EDIT: Found the problem, just needed admin privileges...

Looking forward to playing with the features of the latest EQMOD in real life, instead of playing it out on a simulator.

Please pass on your PHD settings, being having a hell of a time here and have now just grabbed a gpusb to try st4 over pulse guiding. Really want pulse up and going for PEC ontop of things through eqmod Gamepad is the word if when last you were using it and didn't have the feature Dam has that made things so simple in the dark

Yeah I have been using EQMOD since pretty much the start, way back in v1.04 I think was the first one I tried... I moved up to using the gamepad once it was added.

PHD settings I am still working on, just got it working, but my Dec axis doesn't calibrate, not sure if thats a good thing or not. I hope it means I had awesome polar alignment

Will be trying some different settings tonight and see how they go...

Hi Jay,

I was able to successfully calibrate and guide on a star using the below figures in PHD.

I have also been using EQMOD as well for a while and was up until a couple of weeks ago using PHD. Now I have switch to using EQAlign for guiding and what a major difference. As I am using a webcam for some reason the dark creation caused a brightening effect on PHD that caused the star to disappear or reduce locking capability. EQAlign now has a excellent dark subtraction for my webcam and my alignments are really great. Aggressiveness in EQMOD is high but easily reduced.

Hi Malcolm, I had thought of using EQAlign for guiding, next time I am out and I get some clear skies I will give it a try. I had a problem with PHD and my Modified Webcam for long exposure, I hope EQAlign would fix this...
