Harvest Sky

Hi all,

Thunder woke me up at 5am his morning so I jumped into my car and headed off to one of my favorite locations hoping to bag a good lightning shot or two.
Some of you might recognise this as the same location as my "Aurora Australis" "Midnight Rainbow" and "Country Life" images. I took a drive to this location chasing a different storm, but only managed one good strike from it. Just as I was thinking about packing up and heading home this little cell built up behind the other. So glad that I stayed. The lightning got a lot closer after this shot and considering that I am 6 foot 6, making me one of the tallest things around that area (and standing next to a metal tripod), I beat a hasty retreat to the car with the lightning crashing down all around me.
Great way to start Australia Day.

Love it. I am very partial to a nice lightning photo and they don't get better than this.

Thank you so much for the great feedback everyone Still can't quite believe that I managed to capture this shot. I'm normally a very quiet and reserved person, but when the lightning hit and once the image appeared on the back of the camera I was whooping and hollering like that Turtle guy on TV. I think I will have to consider retiring from storm chasing. I don't think it will get any better than this shot for me.
