Jupiter + Io last night

Beaten by the seeing again..

and then beaten by the clouds.

Only had time to grab 4 avi's before clouds rolled in, only 1 of the avi's had the Io shadow transit, but that was just before the clouds rolled over and hence the seeing was mush at that stage.

I'm standing out there in the cold running the avi's through Virtual Dub while i'm waiting, and it starts raining! Man, if it's not seeing it's the clouds.. and last night was both.

Haven't had a night of good seeing for WEEKS now.. so frustrating, this damn jetstream!

Anyway here's the best from last night, taken at about 11:30pm. 10fps. Usual processing.

Aligned and stacked on Io separately, and made a composite.

That's still a very nice image Mike. Well done.

The colour is particularly nice and on my screen it doesn't look overexposed (flared out) at the planet's centre.

Good work

Lovely. Love the little white dots on the higher/lower lattitudes.

I will be sending you my latest video (not the paris hilton episode), mike, cos i still reckon you are world class when it comes to processing. throw some world class gear your way in the next 3 - 5 years and look out. Not that there is anything wrong with what you and I are imaging with, but you know where i am coming from.

I can only remember you having one great seeing night this year, would that be right??? And that resulted in centre spreads in world wide sites ie APOD, Universe today and Penthouse. Top stuff!

Mike, I reckon it's pretty darn good. I was imaging the same time and the seeing was even more dreadful than it has been the last few days. This runs bands around my effort.

good stuff,

cheers,
