Venus Transit from Kilcoy High.

I set up first in my back yard, and shared some time with 3 lots of neighbours before heading over to my boys High School.
It was only going to be 2 science classes initially, but other teachers asked if they could send their students out, 5 at a time.
And they loved it.
My favourite photo is of the five year 8 girls, getting their Geek on and going for the Afocal shots.
I stayed set up during lunch and a lot of the students came back for another look.
After lunch was over, I made the short dash home and did the quickest set up in history, just in time to capture 3rd and 4th contact.

Great work Jeanette. Typical of the boys to be looking so cool and nonchalant, versus the enthusiasm and intensity of the girls!

Cheers

Great images jjj! I had a similar day to yours - on Tuesday it looked like I would be showing it to two grade 5 classes only, but ended up having 7 classes (grade 4 and 5) plus a few extras (nearly 200 kids in total). It was great seeing the reactions of the students when they saw the projected image!

Cheers,
Stephen

I ended up at Mudgee Public and the one class grew into an ocean of kids and teachers and I was sending them back to class with web links to watch it on their interactive whiteboards when they got back inside.

No pictures though, some parents have put notes in that their kids are not allowed to be photographed, so no cameras allowed on the premises, I even had to take the DSLR off the scope and put it back in the car!

It was great fun though, and impromptu science lessons where springing up everywhere. I had a bunch of kids making pinhole projectors, they kept asking "So we can use these *any* day to see the sun? Why hasn't anyone told us about this?!"

I had a ball.

Good on you JJJ to take time out to share with the schools kids. Great to see you also got some keepers for yourself.
