Venus Transit animation

Hi All,

Was up at 5:30am to setup, the sky was clear but as the Sun rose the fog rolled in spoiling the first hour or so. Later it cleared to be a lovely day, albeit pretty brisk.

Have attached a crop of 3rd contact. Just as was the case back in 2004 there was no black drop effect. Cook wrote in his diary that on the day of the 1769 transit the temp was 117 degrees F. I think the temp may well have contributed to poor seeing for Cook which may account to some degree for the black drop effect that he reported.

Have also attached a link to my animation. In an attempt to reduce the file size I have resized all the images in the animation down by half but it is still a large file. Note; it is just under 9 Mb and may take several minutes to load.

Thanks for looking.
Regards
Trevor

Thanks Ray, a shame it takes so long to load from my website and for some reason it is not running at full size.

Thanks Derek, what a day and isn't it great that so many were able to see and record it.

Thanks Paul, all of my efforts have been going into processing my data and I didn't even notice the rotation with the Sunspots until you mentioned it. I suppose even with the slow Solar rotation rate, 5 hours is sufficient to see this also with the Sunspots.

Thanks Houghy, reckon you would have had a ball, with Mike along on your expedition there sure wouldn't have been a dull moment.

A superb animation Trevor, well worth all the capturing and post processing effort you must have invested in this.

How did you align the solar discs, just on the limb?

Cheers

Dennis
