Try Again!! M46 and M83

After taking advises from users, i have accurately polar aligned to the Octan's precisely. Increase dark's, stacking images etc etc.. etc from the other posts.

Spending another 6-7 hours tonight taking more pics of M46 and M83, this is tonight's result and no, that is a double star not star trail

Both were 15 seconds exposure.
M46 50 frames stacked and M83 30 frames stacked

I can play with it abit more but its 6.31am and im soo tiredd.. night.

E, you have come such a long way in such a short time. Astrophotography definitely seems to be your thing. You should maybe get a nebula filter. They are brilliant for cutting down on light pollution around nebulae (do not work on galaxies though).

It is you guys which keeps me going. I'll do my M42 again and try other nebs tonight if the weather is good... argghh ADDICTED! now i can plock the mount onto my polar alignmment markers no more polar alignment for me! hehe

A nebula filter steve? can it be use on the DSI?
Hey adam, those were done in 'normal operation' in .tif mode with the old Meade DSI software not Envisage. I let it stacked by itself. Still can't get Envisage in colour.. arghh.

I don't know if the DSI is threaded for filters, but in principle, yes. They work by cutting out most of the light except a few narrow bands of frequencies which contain the atomic emission lines responsible for most of the light emitted (or reflected) by gaseous nebulae. So they darken the sky (cutting out most of the light pollution, but also starlight) without darkening the nebula very much.

Excellent result especially for 15 second sub exposures. You will be able to stack more that you make in future over these to get even deeper results
