Re Dob base mods howto

My hat is off to Mike Salway, thanks for a well written and easy to understand article.

The mods and updates have enabled me to get my dob operating smoothly and with much less effort.

Well done Mike! a credit to the community.

Thanks for the feedback, John! Much appreciated.

Others have used "ebony star", a type of laminate, on the bottom plate (or on the bottom of the top plate), combined with teflon or furniture sliders.

It appears to give a much smoother motion with less "stickyness" when starting and stopping and moving short distances. I haven't done it to mine yet, but plan to in the near future. It can be difficult to source "ebony star", but there's a few threads on it if you do a search.

I've found with mine, with the furniture sliders, I need to take it off and re-lube both plates with armorall every now and then to keep it running smooth.
