Modifying DSLR (Canon)

Hi! I have a 1000d that I want to modify and I have seen in these pages somewhere a guy in Hong Kong that does it but I can't find the reference now
Anybody any idea how I can get this info?

modifying DSLR

you mean order Baader UV/IR filter and asking a local photo shop to do the mod?
I may need that as Peter Tan's email got bounced back

The cost of filter+modification+return shipping for canon 400D is HKD 1270 (AUS 155). If I buy just the filter, does anybody know who can replace the filter in sydney.

Don't go to Canon, they have no idea what your talking about, and I would be careful taking it to any Camera place, it is a pretty specializes procedure.

You can do it yourself if your game, and all the risk is on your own sholders, I did three Canon 5D's, which were my own equipment, and it went very well, a bit stressful but OK.

Leon

Have a look at this.

"Ross G" from this forum had his 1000d modded by a camera repairer up in Beecroft/Epping area of Sydney for around $150 supplying the repairer with his own filter. Took the guy only a couple of days. PM him for details.

I think Eric has to much on his plate at the moment, and haven't heard from him for some time.

Hi Arif,

I live in Sydney and had my 1000d modified by a local camera technician at West Pennnat Hills.
I bought the replacement filter from My Astro Shop in Queensland and he did the job. This was his first attempt but it was successful and I have been very happy with the camera's performance.
My friend had his Canon 20D also modified and all went well also.
I will look up his details and pm you on Monday.

Ross.
