Amazon prices how does it work?

Ok, Ive bought from Amazon before but was looking at this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listi...&condition=all
so how does anyone think they will sell a book for $187 used when someone else has it for $29 new? I dont get it?

Buyer be(a)ware!

I don't get it either, Roger, but in the used book trade, it isn't at all unusual to see such enormous price ranges, in my experience. It's an uncontrolled, international business and sellers are free to charge whatever they think the market can bear, but in the internet age, it's so incredibly easy to price shop worldwide that logically you'd expect much less disparity between high and low for a given title. (Excepting items that have collectible value of course, such as some first editions, author-signed copies and the like).

Personally, I highly recommend Abe Books as a place to start your international used/out of print book search. Ironically, I've found that out of print Aussie books are usually cheaper from overseas dealers than local ones!

crikey! "booksbylab" on ABE books wants $225 for the same book, if its just people trying to rip buyers off I can understand that (you know what I mean) but to be that obviously out of touch why would you deal with them for anything? the last book I got from Amazon was about $60 oz delivered, in Sydney it was $90 + postage I would buy locally but......

Try using Booko for your Internet book searches.

I have managed to buy books through Booko (linked me to an online site) that had the book that I wanted at $60. On Amazon, it was well over $200.
