PRICE REDUCTION to $5,700 EQ6 Pro/ED80 refractor/Meade LX200-ACF 10" tube assembly

I am reluctantly putting up for sale my barely used imaging setup for $5,700 (price reduced 24/2/10).

The NEQ6 Pro GOTO Skywatcher mount / 2inch focal reducer / Meade tube assembly was purchased in June 2009 from Bintel for just under the $6,000 mark and has possibly been used 10 times since I bought it.

I am including a 80mm ED Skywatcher refractor and Losmandy tube rings as well to make it an irresistable package. I just don't have the time to use it and would like to free the money up for other purposes.

The package includes:

  • NEQ6 Pro GOTO Skywatcher mount (version which can be upgraded over the internet)
  • Meade LX200-ACF 10" tube assembley
  • 2" mirror diagonal
  • 40mm 2" FMC eyepiece
  • Red dot finder with matching SCT dovetail bracket
  • Losmandy DM10 mounting plate for attaching the Meade LX200ACF OTA to the NEQ6 mount
  • Losmandy VSCT17 plate that to allow ED80 refractor to be mounted on top of the Meade 10".
  • 80mm ED Skywatcher refractor tube assembly. Note that this was bought second hand. It is in good condition. The only thing worth mentioning is that there is a couple of marks on the tube from the mounting rings. It also comes with a couple of eyepieces and its own diagional.
  • Losmandy rings to attach the tube assembly to the Meade tube
  • Extra counterweight nessessary because of the weight of the refractor.
  • Meade f/6.3 Focal Reducer/Field Flattener (2 inch)
  • Tube to allow DSLR to attach to telescope (can't remember techical name off hand!)
Given the weight and delicate nature of the optics, I would recommend that a potential purchaser be prepared to pick it up from my home in Canberra.

Once I have worked out how to upload an image, I will upload one of the complete setup.

Regards,

Paul Floyd.

Hi Paul
Are you selling the unit for six thousand or 5?. The same price you purchased for, is that right?

Same purchase price but including 80mm ED refractor/tube rings

Altogether, the telescope imaging set up (see the image) cost over $6,800. It may have been just over $7,000. Not sure as I didn't bother keeping track as I didn't expect to be selling it.

The 'just under $6,000' new refers only to the skywatcher and meade tube assembly (purchased from Bintel) - not the 80mm ED refractor (secondhand) and Losmandy tube rings (bought new) which I bought separately.

I am asking $6,000 for the package i.e. approximately $800 (plus?) off what I paid for the items separately.

Regards,

Paul.

Expressions of interest (if not sold as package)

I have had a couple of messages asking if I would break up the package. I will wait at least a week to see if anyone is interested in buying the complete 'lock, stock and barrel'.

I would rather one person buy the lot ... and hopefully come and get the equipment. Shipping two optical assemblies plus a very heavy equatorial mount makes me nervous... Whoever bought is who wanted it shipped somewhere would really want to take put insurance. That said, I do have the two boxes for the optical tube assemblies.

However, please feel free to ask about individual items. Just be aware that I will be waiting a week (at least) to see if anyone wants to snap up the complete set.

Regards,

Paul
