toUcam extension tube

Mick Pinner was kind enough to send me a .965"-1 1/4" eyepiece adapter the other day that I was going to use on my little 4.5" reflector so I could use my standard 1 1/4" EPs in. (Ta Mick)

Unfortunately it was the wrong kind, so I ended up using it as an extension tube between the 2X barlow & the CCD. Works a treat! Gained about 3 1/2"-4" in length & the image scale on mars for instance is quite noticable.

All I need is good seeing now to take advantage of it!

Nothing gets wasted at my place, if a gadget won't fit on one thing I'll eventually use it for something else, lol.

Good Stuff Asi - love the pioneer, make use of anything spirit - with that extra length you must be up to almost 3x. If you wanted to work out exactly what you're getting from your barlow now take a look at the article link attached below - i used this to work out what I was getting by using extension tube and/or star diagonal between barlow and webcam. The maths gets a bit heady (for me) but muddled through it. You need to work out your barlow's focal length by playing aroun with focussing light from it onto some card.

Look forward to seeing you put all that new image scale to good use

cheers,
