Cosmic Strings could solve Positron Mystery

The old theory of cosmic strings, discarded in favour of inflation, could explain recently observed fuxes of positrons in space. The cosmic strings are proposed to be made of dark matter. More from nature:

Thanks Sheeny, another thread to the theory of strings,but I think it will take a bit more than this to convince the "String Theory" critics

Hi,

This explains the failure of the new Large Hadron Collider. It is held together with string.

Thanks for the posting Al - I find all this quite interesting, but I increasingly wonder which is the more extraordinary - the Universe itself or the minds of cosmologists. Both quite fascinating!
