Smile Moon shots...

A couple of shots of the moon - full and gibbous (last night).

1st one my first real (Lunar) prime focus effort with the 8" and DSLR. 2nd a full moon tripod shot with 300mm telephoto just to see what sort of scale could be achieved. Won't win awards, but valuable learning exercise for moi.

Edit: Prime focus was ISO 100, 1/200, Canon 450D

Took lots of shots at many settings to land that best one at PF. Guess that's how astrotphotography is most of the time.

i never could get a decent moonie with my telephoto lens, id imagine you need somekind of super ED or APO camera lens for that- but your 1st image is really terrific!!- that 450d seems to be an awesome camera too
