New Webcam at SETI Observatory.

A third Webcam has been added to the SETI Observatory, Mainly for security.
BUT, there's more.
A fourth will be added soon, It will probably be called "Skycam" which will be installed to look up and watch the Planets pass overhead.
Our normal webcams won't work for use in low light so we are looking into purchasing or adapting a camera.
Maybe an LPI will work mounted to my old Tasco 4.5 inch reflector, any help in this area will be appreciated greatly.

It will certainly be a good thing to do if it works.

Mike.

Of course it's not going to work, is it?
I've been thinking about this all day.
The video frames need to be processed first, and stacked and I don't think it can be done automatically. Fine for daytime, but not for night.
The webcams shots are updated to the web site every 60 sec's.
Unless..
Could we hook up a DSLR for 60sec exposures and upload them straight to the web page without processing?

Mike,

I've just been browsing this site from CSU:

http://black-hole-net.mit.csu.edu.au/telescope/main.asp

They have an all sky camera that updates every 60 seconds like you want to:

http://black-hole-net.mit.csu.edu.au...ces/allsky.asp

Maybe it's worth contacting them just for a bit of advice/tips?

Al.

Thanks Al.
I will pass that website on to the school so they can see it.

Will check out the all sky cam later.
I am stuffed, It's been a huge day at work spring cleaning the hangar, time for bed for me I think.

Mike.
