Split block clamp to hold truss

I am working on putting together a stalk to hold my Argo Navis...similar to those done by Markless in the USA...

My earlier attempt was not successful but that is another story (both embarrassing and poignant as it highlights my inability to think through a simple engineering probelm) which will not be discussed at this time...

I was curious if anyone in Australia had or made something similar to the attached photo...

Also, does anyone know of a good place near Sydney to get a truss pole (sourced and sized)...

Thanks!

Hi Scott, I went through some of my photos to see if I had any to show you how I went about it. (they might help)

Ask your local hardware store about the aluminium pole, they do have them but maybe not the size that you are after.
They can always order it in.

At Bunnings they had a whole heap of 1 metre lengths of various diameter aluminium tubing, however I just used what was left from making my truss poles.
