Roll on - Roll off - Observatory - Western Australia

Good morning all

I am located in Western Australia. I recently purchased 2.5 acres of land in a bortle 1 location.

I am looking at building a roll on - roll off shed type observatory, however, I am having no luck finding anyone that can build them nor can I find any plans.

There used to be an observatory (I think it was called Piccadilly) in Western Australia that absolutely meets what I am looking for (pictures attached).

Does anyone know if any shed builders that build custom observatory type sheds or know of anyone that has access to plans similar to the sheds in the attached images.

Thank you kindly
Jason

Good luck Jay, a while ago when more active I had to go the diy route, took a lot of effort but roll off/on is a great option.

Regards

Hi Jay

I sent an email to my brother (who is in WA) and he did some poking around on the web and came up with these suggestions for plans

https://skyshed.com/

https://rollamatic.com/retractable-observatory-roof

I am not sure the second link will be useful, but, the first one could be.

I have also sent you a PM with some other ideas.

I went down this path and couldn't find anyone in Australia providing this service, anything from OS will cost and arm and leg. If you have the skills do it yourself but if money if not an issue look at

Martin Pugh is a well known and accomplished Astrophotographer. He has built
roll off roof observatories on his property at Yass NSW. You could drop him an email and pick his brain on how he built his observatories.
