Had some interesting weather pass through yesterday, all day we had an extreme weather warning for damaging winds and large hale. I unplugged every electronic device in our house for the day so no internet or computers which put me a little behind with processing.
Imaged Jupiter October 24th in good seeing, only have 685nm IR and R data as a technical problem occurred which curtailed capturing further data. Several compact dark spots are resolved across the NNTB, two red barges are very well resolved in the NEB. Considerable fine detail and structure is resolved in the EZ. There is considerable activity immediately following the GRS and a series of compact dark spots trail the GRS in the STrB. Bright ovals A1, A2, A3, A4 & A5 are well resolved in the SSTB.
Super shots Trevor!! That IR pic is fantastic- really showing some amazing detail across the whole surface. Ive always found it quite challenging to get fine detail in IR but you’ve really nailed it!
Thanks Dave, when the seeing is marginal I find that often the IR provides the only data worth processing. I have 685nm IR, 742nm IR and 807nm IR and over the years have used all of them but now days the 685nm IR is my go to with regards the IR. The other two filters come into their own when imaging nearer the horizon, they handle that scenario quite well.
