Prawn - IC4628 - first light 130mm APO

Hello,

Been a long time since posting on the deep space section, maybe up to 4 years.

Purchased a TS photoline 130mm APO a few years back but never got around to getting it going.

Tuesday night was clear so i gave it a go with a very limited sky to polar align from, I was surprised to get a result. This is only 1hr40 SHO, with the qhy 163mm - with the TSRED379, 0.79 reducer/fl;attener, it isn't quite at the right setback but pretty close having to use the locking ring in the flattener thread so not so precise.

anyway, the Ha was ok considering the terrible PA, but the O3 and S2 were really bad - SG Pro didn't get the focus down unfortunately.

10 mins of S2!
Ha - 29x2min
S2 - 5x2min
S2 - 17x2min

Anyway, nice to get a result after so much time! (even if i had to process the cr@p out of it).

PS any tips on how to get the setback bang on for the reducer welcome / and or - on any PA software which isn't so choosy on alignment star selection!

Yeah, your stars are wonky but, with such a small amount of data and your restrained processing, you've achieved lovely colours and a pleasing overall view! Good detail too. Nicely done and welcome back to the fray!

Thanks for the remark Marcus - yes stars very all over the place; and did you say restrained processing? i've now had to go back and push it further

Compared to many NBs I've seen, absolutely!!! First one is still the best version! Edit: The stars in the second one are somewhat faded but I do like the colours.

You should be happy with that Russel and a nice one for getting back in the saddle. The colours work well and the structure in the nebula comes through nicely.

Lovely shot - I am a newbie to astrophotography. Are you using the hubble palette with narrowband filters? How do you remove the stars so effectively?

Great shot Russell, it can be quite amazing with what can be achieved with a very limited amount of data. You've managed to extract every photon out of it

cheers Kanga, yes it was hubble pallette shot with narrowband filters.
For the stars i used 'Starnet++' a free star removal program. first time ive given it a shot, works well in narrowband images, not sure how it will go with fatter stars of regular rgb though.

That is true but its just the first time i hadn't overcooked it then
yes you're right re the stars in the newer one. fixed that now.
