A Quick M55

Jetstream was running around 100kt last night so picked an easy object to do some quick imaging. Chose M55 globular cluster ( around magnitude 7 ) which I haven’t imaged before
6” f6 Bintel newt on a HEQ5 mount
40 x 90sec subs
15 x darks
No dithering
PHD2 Guiding at a terrible 1.80 to 2.20 arc sec error
Canon 600D with Baader coma corrector
ISO 800
Stacked in DSS
Processed in Startools

Thanks for looking , comments welcome !

Nice going and a great result.
Have you tried "drizzle" yet..it's in deepskystacker and only a click away. I am thinking such would get you even better results.
Well done.

Thanks very much Alex appreciate it
Yes I’ve read various articles on “Drizzle”
You usually get a better outcome from “drizzling” if your either “dithering” or your undersampled
My pixel scale for the 6”f6 newt is 0.98 arc sec / pixel
My pixel scale for the 8”f5 newt is 0.88 arc sec / pixel
Therefore both are oversampled
I’ll give “drizzle” a try but my stars after 50% binning in Startools are nice and round with good resolution even when I zoom in a bit , they are definitely not blocky

My last effort the stars were blocky alright..rectangles in fact. I would give it a go as often you use something expecting a particular outcome which you don't get but find a benefit in an area you never expected.

Nice work Martin on this very neglected Globular, both visually and imaging..I always have a peek when I'm hunting doubles in the region..loose but fainter than the other Messier ones but quite easy to resolve some of it in scopes of 130mm..so nice to see what you've done with it.
Bigjoe.

Thanks very much Joe
Globular Clusters are not usually posted that often in IIS and if they are people usually post Omega , Tuc 47 and the like, the large bright dense ones. Open clusters are rarely posted
I enjoy both imaging and observing all clusters
I’ve imaged both M22 and M55 this week
So many more clusters to target in the future
Thanks again !
