Smile Andromeda from Byron Bay, NSW

Finally got a couple of days without clouds / moon or social engagements to actually get back in the backyard observatory!

As you know this is a difficult target from Australia so I'm happy to have pulled out this image from a combination of my lucky latitude and the RASA and CGX Mount to quickly expose this (over 2 nights) with unguided 1m subs. About 80, 40 broadband-mono and 40 straight RGB combined as LRGB.

Thanks Rob! It's an 11" Celestron RASA which is inherently reduced to f2 for a 620 mm focal length.

On the first night I exposed 40 odd subs with the QHY9 (classic kodak 8300 chip) with no filters, but mono (broadband) and on the second night I used the QHY12 (sony something chip) for the RGB.

I then layer the colour over the mono like a transparency to get all the good quantum efficiency and detail of the QHY9 mono chip but all the colour data from the QHY12 which doesn't even need to be sharp. In fact I applied blur to that layer.
