Working of the Wood

Wood and I don't get on: but:I'm looking for a bench that I can bolt wood working tools to. Recipe for Disaster you may say, just add beer

Today I wanted to bolt in a planer and then a router to work on a 2 meter length of hardwood. I got a power saw here I'd like to bolt in now and again also.

Anyone know of something like that, that isn't really tool or brand specific.

It sounds like you're talking about regular hand tools Robin, in which case it would be safer to clamp the wood to a table and move the router, etc with your hands.

Ohh no, all of these have huge electric motors ... Goes well with beer

I'm after something I can bolt the tools too and pass the wood over.

Looks like a lot of effort. Can you buy these

Yes, you need a workbench to build a good workbench.

I suggest you do some reading here.

Michael.

I saw his first one on utube. They're both pretty big.
I think he does this for a living.

It is big being designed to take a full sheet. No reason you couldn't make it smaller to suit your space.

Gday Robin
You can get something like a Triton workcentre
http://www.timberbits.com/brand/trit...FQuavAod3QoDnA
It does circular saw, router, jigsaw with the basic setup
and allows a fair range of units.
Lots of extra accessories available, but not cheap.

Geez talk about timing. I was going to start building a workbench tonight. But I didnt have anything specific in mind.

Thanks to that video Robin posted, I think I can integrate my router table into the bench, rather than keep my standalone unit, which never gets use because its always in the corner covered in junk.

I will have to trawl through the woodwork forums for more ideas.

Risky business. 2 metre hardwood missile may be the result if a blade bites the wood...

Cheers Andrew, I found a Triton Bench with both saw and router tops on Gumtree. Not too far away and pretty cheap too. Looks like a winner in the short term.

LOL I took it from the link you posted that you wanted to build something. I didn't see the comment about buying something.

The original Triton instruction video is on YouTube if you do get one. Worth a look even if the fashions are not to your taste.
