Tassie astronomers unite!

Hey you Southern star gazers, I have seen a few names and faces on the forum but maybe we should align a bit more?
Just a suggestion
PM me and I will start a chat…

We northerners never venture past the Oatlands demarcation line, perhaps we should get together and organise a "Tasmanian Astrofest" event similar to the excellent Qld Astrofest.

Tasmanian Astrofest - sounds like a good idea. It's been too many years since I lived in Tassie, but there are some lovely historic B&Bs and small hotels in the midlands for those who eschew camping (Ross ?). There used to be a couple of camps (used for school trips) with huts/dorms in the central highlands that might be suitable in warmer months (snow in winter!), but I don't know if they're still there.

TAss

excellent start!
Even thought up a logo - TASTRONOMY!
keep up the dialogue folks.
Middle of the state would be a good place- I know the tas astro society use a house just outside of Lonnie.

Just for completeness - I remembered that Waddamana was the place we went to for school trips. By a process of deduction, I figure it was probably this place:

Waddamana Field Study Centre

I remember it being quite hilly, so not sure how well it's suited to astronomy, but it was dark (back then).

Astrofest...?

Hey, so I know this is an old thread but I was thinking of organising a localised but supported astrofest in Ulverstone in August 2015... Any support out there
