At a Guess, I could see GS bringing out a range of advanced computer drive Cassegrains. But then again GS does alright now, they might not have to worry.
Interesting to note that Synta's head office is in Taiwan when it is a Chinese company and their factory is in China. With the China/Taiwan unrest at the moment, the purchase of Celestron may be a way of getting the Synta head office out of Taiwan??
This is what happens when you get involved in a lengthy legal contest with Meade. Meade won and the result is most likely Celestron being bought out. The case involved a lot of money, not to mention the legal bills.
However, it might also be to go off shore. The celestron owner buys up big shares in Synta and then sells all the interests to Synta. It has happened before and it will happen again.
In any case it does not look like a total off shore thing with the involvement of the Delaware company. Now we shall see which optics are better than whose.
Yes Paul, and we shall see if Celestrons actually improve or become cheap mass-produced supermarket low quality products just for the sake of sales. Kmart, Target etc.
Skywatcher and Saxon have Mak-Cat horribly cheap! (could be horribly made too??) Only up to 6" on this site though. Celestrons are at the top of the page, but someone wanting a cheapo Catadioptric can get the Maks further down the page.
