Eta Carina single frame
15 secs @ ISO 6400. I think it's quite pretty, considering the paucity
of data.

It is pretty. Better than the stack again. If you can get the stack to look like the single but without the noise, you'll be on a winner.

Thanks Peter, I am hoping for tonight too; I've had one imaging
session in the last nine weeks.

I'll try Peter; incidentally, I'm just putting the finishing touches to a
windscreen wiper for my scope.

I assumed you were talking about the weather. I've had one clear night
in the last nine weeks.

that's pretty miserable
So I've upload a single frame for comparison...this a crop from a 60s exposure at ISO1600, so from the camera's perspective it shouldn't be much different. Obviously, we're using different scopes
mine is a little ED refractor (~f/4.9), and slightly out of focus by the looks of it
No noise was harmed in the making of this image.
Needless to say, yours is sharper and has more colours in it

Interesting. The exposure works out almost the same, and my 8"
is f/5, but has of course hugely more light gathering ability.[about 6x].

Ignoring your secondary obstruction, it's more like 8x light gathering area. But all the "wisdom" says fast means bright
Maybe it's because my field is too large...this crop was about 1/9 of the full frame, cropped to more or less match for comparison.

I had assumed [obviously wrongly], that you had
used an 80mm.

Hi John, nice to have a newcomer amongst our bunch. They all know what gear I use, so I don't post the equipment details any more, just the exposure details. HEQ5/ 8" Newt/ Canon 1100D unmodded.
