M8_Single frame

Hi Everyone,
Raymo has inspired me to post this single frame of M8 taken with a modded Canon 1100D. Single frame ISO800 300sec. This is a straight CR2 to Jpg convert straight out of the camera. Guided with a QHY5. I had some polar alignment issues by the looks but not to bad.

Hi Rex, that's a ripper. Obviously I am doing something wrong because
my stacked results are not as sharp as my single frames.

Looks great Rex. well done. Pretty darn good for 1 sub.

I had a play with startools to remove the blue gradient, attached. I used your jpg so won't be as good, but helps when you remove the blue cast. just blink between the two.
what scope was this?
the top right corner suggests a minor tilt of your camera or focuser, not PA. best to do a star test collimation to see if the secondary is centered.
PA would show up as field rotation in all corners.

Cheers
Alistair

OK...so this is my lame output...240s ISO1600 unmodded 1100D...with my little refractor. I'm not so much worried about the details, that's an aperture thing, but I'm not getting anything like the colours

What were your cameras modded with guys? It's a pretty dramatic difference

Hi dunk I sent my 1100d to hap griffin in the u.s he replaced the stock
filter with a Baader UV/IR block filter it allows much more hydrogen-alpha light but blocks IR.
Well worth the money I think?.

Thanks Raymo, Could be a number of things that may cause that, a little heavy on the noise reduction is the thing that comes first too mind. Mind you someone with a lot more experience than me would have a better idea.

Thanks Kevin, my scope is a skywatcher carbon fibre 8" f4. I gotta say I absolutely love it. the model number is CFP2008.

Thanks Alistair. Yeah I am really happy with the way the 1100D performs since I modded it. My scope is a Skywatcher Carbon fibre 8" f4. CFP2008. Thanks for the tip about the camera tilt. I was surprised about the distortion to be honest as I spent quite a bit of time on my alignment that night. I will have to investigate what is causing it then. Yeah the blue gradient I think comes from the CLS clip filter. I normally remove it during processing by using the DBE tool in PI. Nice clean up Alistair.

Would have to be a result of the astro mod Dunk. In the Mod the IR cut filter gets removed which allows the camera to sense and pick up the HA, that the stock filter cuts out. that's why they are so red.

Thanks chaps, I'll have to look into the mod, seems well worth it to me! How does it handle other frequencies? Others are unaffected? (Thinking about Trifid)

Barry, yeah it's a little doublet, and I'd left the focus lock screw at home, so I had some fun it's noticeably worse one side of focus than the other. Interestingly, it's much reduced with stacking

I actually don't like the modded cameras; the red completely swamps
the other colours, particularly the blue. Rex, I don't do any noise reduction, I wouldn't know how.
