Helix LRGB, Triffid LRGB and Rosette NB mosaic

Helix LRGB, Triffid LRGB and Rosette NB mosaic

These are my first LRGB and tone map NB attempts with my modified truss scope and given the lousy Adelaide weather these last two months I'm happy with the outcomes. The data was quite noisy and some stars hit by a poorly adjusted spider vane and I suspect there's at least one or two arcs-seconds of resolution available once I sort out the tilt of the new set-up. At focus the smallest stars are twice as wide as they are high. To get them round I have to defocus the image so this tilt problem is my highest priority if I can get the clouds to clear off.

Imaging data

Helix
Lum 21x600sec bin 1x1
R 20x180sec bin 2x2
G 20x180sec bin 2x2
B 20x180sec bin 2x2

Triffid
Lum 50x300sec bin 1x1
R 20x120sec bin 2x2
G 20x120sec bin2x2
B 40x120sec bin 2x2

Rosette
Ha 10x240sec bin 1x1
OIII 15x240sec bin 1x1
SII 15x240sec bin 1x1

ONAG/Loadstar guider

Nice work and interesting presentation Stephen.

FWIW, I had similar astigmatism in one of my systems. Marc advised that I redo the secondary and sure enough, the silicone mounting was pulling the mirror out of shape. Tried lots of alternative mounting, but the best has been 3 tabs of white, slightly spongy, double sided tape (Mitre10 home brand, but there are others).

Really nice collage Stephen. I really like the colors and details you've got in the Rosette rendition. Very cool.

Thanks Ray. You might be right about the secondary as I just did another test and changing the tilt had little effect. Might try severing most of the silastic leaving only three or four points of support and see what happens.
