Biggest Aurora levels this year!

Hello Everyone

Well the Solar storm, which is happening right now at a K-index of 7 ~

http://www.swpc.noaa.gov/wingkp/

~ produced an excellent light show. As usual after a 10 day heat wave in Victoria consisting of clear skies the timing of the cool change and cloud cover wasn't apperciated .

My back Veranda has been replaced so I placed the good old Pentax on the tripod outside and just let it snap away. I took around 400~500 images with roughy 10% of them with reasonable skies.

Here is an image I just finished processing in PS CS3

Just added a Star Trail Version

As usual the standard 30 second sub @ iso3200 using the 14mm Samyang lens

Regards Paul.

I was clouded out here so did not get anything, but was watching it go up by the hour. If it is still going tonight I will take a drive south and hopefully pick something up.

BTW Paul that image is quite small, can you put up another one that is bigger?

So envious . If there was ever a reason to move south, this is it.

Thanks Jenttie

I wasn't thinking that when the clouds and rain rolled in. The Aurora was seen as high as Swanhill. It seems with a Kp @ 8~9 the released photons can be seen at high latitudes
Regards Paul.

Yes I am banking on it Paul. I will be going out if the sky is clear. Might have to be all night with the moon as bright as it is.
