Favorite kind of music

Almost everybody loves music, but not everybody likes the same kind of music. My question to you guys: what kind of music do you prefer?

I like almost all kinds of music but if I have to choose, I would take metal and "modern" music (techno and trance).

Ok, now it's up to you.

My tastes change depending on my mood, but at the moment I like Missy Higgins, Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, R&B/Soul and a bit of hip-hop.

When I was younger it was hip-hop and nothing else

Got a neat trick , don't tell your kids
Buy them a large MP3 player doesn't matter which brand as long as it holds 800 or so songs, then every dark sky weekend make sure the teenager gets in trouble and you then have to confiscate the MP3 player for a week :-)) mine keep complaining that the music I put on there's sucks,
who cares it gives you something to do when guiding

Can't stand the rap crap but almost anything else goes.

This may be an indicator of my age, my kids love it and I remember my parents hating rock and roll

See ya

Guns 'n Roses, ACDC, Def Leppard are all good. Saw David Bowie, Fleetwood Mac and The Eagles last year, they were all good. But Pink Floyd are the best, saw Roger Waters a few years ago and that was great.

Anything but rap, hiphop and R&B is generally not bad.

hey paul, did you hear MGFs cover of "I kissed a girl"? makes me feel dirty just listening to it

Most types of music... my current "play list" would include: MGF, Beastie Boys, Sonic Animation, Best of Human League and Radio Head...

also at the moment I am listening to a hell of a lot of swing.

but when out with my telescope i listen to the sounds of silence

wow, a lot of varied music tastes here. I don't like rap either but I will listen to most other music. I used to listen to pop, top 40 stuff but I can't stand it now. I like a lot of orchestral music, like musical scores from movies and soundtracks (especially LOTR soundtracks, ROTK is the best). I love Billy Joel and Elton John, Mariah Carey's stuff before she went, er, nuts, aretha franklin, 80's stuff, some disco and old school soft rock (none of this stuff they call rock now). My fiance is getting me into jazz now too and I'm liking that very much. I also like classical music too.
Hey Jonathan, I ilke fleetwood mac, david bowie and the eagles stuff as well (not major fan but I do like listening to their songs on the radio).

Dont you mean doof-doof ?

Having grown up in the 70's and 80's my taste is for that eras rock mainly. There nothing much I hear on the radio made after the early-mid 90's that really grabs me . Having said that I absolutely loved the music in the movie Kill Bill and sat right through the credits enjoying the awesome music. Ill have to track down the artists one day.

#1 band of all time = Pink Floyd !

Fart, I dont like the rap stuff either. Love Dire Straits and that sort of music. Mind you I am in my 50's, so you have to give me a bit of leeway..

All time fav are the OOOOOOIIILLLLLSSSSSSSS - come back Peter all is forgiven!!!!!

Apart from that I like Hunters & Collectors / Mark Seymour, Crowdies / Neil Finn / Finn Brothers, Powderfinger, Skunkhour, Hoodoo Gurus. I have also listened to the likes of Queen, U2, Elton John, Billy Joel, John Farnham, John Williamson, and the Bee Gees on the odd occasion.

I can't stand (nor understand) the doof doof & rap appeal

I just pulled out one of my Queen greatest hits albums last night and it just blew me away - they are legends IMO. I forgot to mention them as well as Jewel, who I think is a very talented songwriter with a beautiful country-style, emotionally strong voice.
Good music is very, very hard to find these days.

My tastes are very varied. Jonny Lang, Lee Kernaghan, Gary Allen, The Eagles, Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw would be some of my favourites. In my teens it was Iron Maiden, Guns N Roses, Queen (ahh, Highlander... what a great movie), Def Leppard & Dire Straits.

Every now and then I give the speakers a workout with Disturbed and Linkin Park.

I like almost anything particularly if it's well recorded, especially music DVD's. Angels, Billy Thorpe, Grace Night, Queen, John Mayall (if you like blues, try his 70th birthday concert DVD... Amazing) even Edith Piaf. Don't go much on country or Rap.
