TenChain Hill New Moon night 1st Feb
Guys, keep this one in mind. I'm taking my lightweight rig and the spouse away for a couple of months from early Feb. So the next NMN could be the last until May.
Weather permitting, let's make it a good one.

Thanks, Peter. Will get up if I can. It would be good to catch up after so long...
Cheers,
Rick.

Great stuff. New moon is on the Friday 31st I think. Whatever night you like will be OK with me - Fri or Sat.
Hey Chris, can you see what we will need to plate solve with EKos? Probably need to DL the astrometry.net indices and AstroTortilla. Any idea?

I didn't get that far (no cameras would work ), so I didn't progress the plate solving aspect.
However, from reading, I think you can either use the online astrometry.net or use a local install of astrometry.net. I know I'll be looking at the latter.
I'd look at doing a local install of astrometry.net and configuring for that. I don't believe AstroTortilla will be needed, since that's basically "inside" Ekos.
I got to the point where I was trying to build everything from source to fix the camera problems, so I've taken a pause to start rebuilding the laptop into a version of Linux I'm more comfortable using.

Yeah, a local install seems the go. Can I pinch a copy of your DLs when you do that?

I have copies of most of the Astrometry.net index files if you want to save many GB of downloads...

I'll prepare to bring a copy as well Rick in case one of us can't turn up for some reason.

Well guys, that seems to be that! The chances of winning Lotto are better than those for a fine New Moon. Skippy has spoken!! So has BOM.
I'm not sure how long we'll be away. I am taking a Tak FS60CB and a StarLapse system to do some widefield HA stuff plus a Polarie and some great Olympus camera and lens gear to do some starscapes and the like. So I plan to be busy. I may even get a chance to post a few images. I'm also trialing a Linux Mint16 INDI/Ekos setup in the hope that I can slowly move all my Obs gear across to a Linux platform. So I'll be busy alright! Plus I'm taking my bike, wife, taste for red wine, a kayak and fishing line. Woohoo!!
I'll revitalise this thread when I get back.
cheers all.

Indeed, have a good trip. Do you need the astrometry files before you go away? I think it's about 34Gb of index files.

No thanks Chris. None of the gear I'm taking is guided or under computer control. I'm doing it the old-fashioned way.
