I might be able to further help your friend find a taker for the accommodation and
seat in the van.
I have available one Jetstar "Starter Plus" ticket SYD -> CNS departing on the
morning of the 11th and another CNS -> SYD departing on the morning of the
16th.
It was to be used by a family member who can now no longer make it.
It is of a type where the name on the ticket can be changed as can the date
and time of flight for an equivalent priced flight, but you would be very hard
pressed I would imagine to find a spare seat on a different flight next
week without paying much more.
I can change the name for you.
I was going to simply change the name and date of the flight to return to Cairns
myself for a short break up there sometime in 2013, but having seen Brad's post and
knowing how difficult it might be for someone to find an economical way
of getting to CNS and back, I am happy to sell it to someone in need of
wanting to get there for the eclipse.
As the name must be changed at least 24 hours prior to departure on Sunday
morning, if I don't hear from anyone by Friday afternoon (tomorrow) it will
no longer be available.
Please also be advised that since it departs on Sun 11th and Brad's friends
accommodation starts on the 12th, you are also faced with the challenge of
having to find some accommodation for the first night. For example, you might
still find a motel a bit out of town which you could get to with a taxi out of
the airport.
In any case, when combined with Brad's friend's offer, you have flights, somewhere
to sleep and some wheels on the ground to give you a front row seat to the eclipse.
