I'm trying to photograph as many of the easier targets with just my 40D, 100mm Canon Macro and my tripod. I've been playing around with DSS and some different techniques for the past few months. Photos taken from the northern suburbs of Wollongong
This is my first attempt at the Orion Nebula, pretty pleased with what I got. 20x 5sec frames at ISO1600, 1250 and 1000. I completely forgot to include ISO3200.
good result Tim. Would be interested to see how a tracked and stacked set of images would turn out with that lens. Already i can see you have got the running man and flame Neb's easily seen. This region makes for a spectacular widefield
Currently having a go at building a barndoor tracker, we'll see how it fares. I rate the canon 100mm macro, it works exceptionally well at its proper job of imaging macro subjects and I am pleased with its performance as a telescope .
